What Is Spiritualism?

Spiritualism is the practice of communicating with discarnate beings who once lived an earthly life.

Spiritualists believe in 'life after death', that communication from spirit beings can be gathered and passed on by mediumistic people and that healing energy is channelled from the Devine spirit, through a healing medium into a patient.

We believe that spirit communication is completely natural and has been in existence since Man first walked on the earth. We know that animals communicate to each other with telepathy and it seems logical that before Man had the power of speech, he did the same.

Spiritualism is an ongoing experiment to prove survival after death of the material body. We believe that the spirit takes on a material life in order to learn through many experiences. We often find that we make the same mistake many times before we finally get it right.

Many spiritualists believe that we live many lives on the earth plane. This makes sense, as we could not possibly experience everything in one life – being rich, being poor; being intelligent, being lowly; being a good person, being wicked; being famous, being a hermit etc.

We believe that when we return to spirit we review the life we have just lived and assess what we have learned and whether we need to take another life. We may stay in spirit for some time before deciding to take another life. We are aware of what we need to learn and may even choose the type of family we need to be born into.

Once we are reborn, we forget our previous life during that lifetime, as this would affect the new experiences we need to go through. Evidence from past life regression shows that each life is completely different. We may be a king or queen in one life, and a pauper in another. There does not seem to be a natural progression, a 'working our way up the ladder'.

We believe that there comes a stage when we feel we do not need to take another earth life. We continue to learn and progress in the spirit realms.
